Request your Legal Strategy Document

Share the basics about your tenancy so I can check for conflicts, see how urgent your matter is, and prepare your written strategy. Your email is required so I can follow up.

1. The Basics

Jurisdiction: This service currently covers South African legal matters only.

Are you currently represented by another attorney, union, or advisor?

Needed so I can check for any potential conflict of interest before reviewing.

Commercial matters may later be excluded.

2. The Case Categorization

Is this matter urgent—for example a hearing within 7 days, eviction or lockout, a CCMA deadline, a court date, utility disconnection, maintenance hardship, or anything else that may need attention sooner than the usual 2–3 business day turnaround?

Examples: hearing within 7 days; eviction or lockout; CCMA deadline; court date; utility disconnection; maintenance hardship.

Are there alleged arrears?
Was the deposit partially refunded (if applicable)?
Has a formal letter of demand been sent?

Lease start and end dates, move-out date, deposit deadline, or any Tribunal deadline already running. (Used to assess if the matter is too urgent for the usual 3-business-day turnaround.)

3. The Facts

Keep this tight (not a long essay). Maximum 2000 characters.

Tip: Bullet points or short timelines work best.

0 / 2000

e.g. "I want my full deposit back," "I want to cancel early without illegal penalties," "I want repairs done," "I want to escalate to the Rental Housing Tribunal."

4. Upload relevant documents

Lease agreement, incoming and outgoing inspection reports, written demands or notices from the landlord or agent, deposit deduction lists, or anything you have been pressured to sign.

Upload guidance

  • Accepted formats: PDF, DOCX, JPG, and PNG.
  • If a document is password-protected, remove the password before uploading.
  • Avoid uploading unnecessary sensitive personal information—include only what is relevant to the legal issue.

Mandatory: This service includes review of up to 5 pages. If your documents exceed this, you may receive a custom quote or a refund.

5. Procedure

Illegal eviction screening — tick anything that applies
Have you signed any move-out, deduction, or acknowledgment paperwork from the landlord or agent?
Was the inspection joint (move-in or move-out)?
Did you receive written damages lists or repair quotes?
Are you still living in the property?

This service does not include court appearances, attorney-on-record services, or litigation representation unless that is separately agreed in writing.
